"RED BLOOD" - VIN GORDON / "BLOODSHED" - SELECTION TRAIN PLAYERS
SELECTION TRAIN 7" SLTN - 001 - SEPTEMBER '15 RELEASE
Selection Train Records are proud to present the forthcoming debut 7" on
our Selection Train imprint. We had the incredible honour of working with the
Legendary Studio 1 trombonist VIN GORDON in order to revisit a record that has
haunted us for years - the first cut of the same name, recorded at Studio 1 Jamaica
by Coxsone Dodd in around 1971 and only released at the time on a stupidly rare UK
"FAB" blank 45. The rhythm is better known for it's dub counterpart on the "Bionic Dub"
LP, and for it's later incarnation for Hugh Mundell's "Little Short Man" for Pablo.
This spooky, funky, rootical outing is recreated here with Vin giving a virtuoso
performance, varying his solo's for this version to devastating effect over a crunchy
modern rhythm with a bassline to rattle yuh window!
